MSp 05 - Train to Marrakesh . . . "Recalculating"

Asking  about  the  arrival  of  so  many  sheep  coming  into  town,
we  learn  this  weekend  is  . .

"THE" . .  BIG  CELEBRATION  of  the  year !

( "like  KREES - MAS  for  you",
they  tell  us).
We  had  already  begun  thinking  about  issues  related  to
arrival  mid - weekend  in  a  big  city  coming  from  coastal town  Agadir,
. .  so  we  set  'Agadir'  aside  for  now,
buy  train  tickets  for  tomorrow's  departure  to  Marrakesh
&  mentally  prepare  for  what  may  be  one  of  our  trip's  biggest  challenges.

Train  terminus  called  "Voyageurs"  . .  this  close  to  our  hotel  . .

Waiting  on  Platform  2   . .   Dick  in  yellow.

Only  2nd  Class  available,
but  it  will  get  us  to  Marrakesh  in  3 - 4  hours
&  on  Thursday  afternoon  before  the  very  busy  weekend.
Our   Casa  hotel  mgr.  uses  his  cell phone
to  dial  the  place  we  have  in  mind  for  Marrakesh.
He  knows  the  place.
In  less  than  one  minute  the  reservation  is  set  &  our  minds  are  at  ease.
A  glimpse  of  1/2  of  our  2nd  Class  train  car  . .

We  perched  on  a  low  side  ledge  about  5 - 6  inches  wide.      Others  did  same.

All  ages  . .  no  animals  . .  train  quiet  and  smooth
. .   people  juggling  to  find  comfort  leaning  on  little  tables  . .  sitting  under  and  on  them.
Lots  of  snoozing  . .  quiet  conversation  . .  kids  inventing  finger  games.
Seemed  to  be  'normal'  for  Moroccans  -  no one  complained
. .  everyone  anticipating  the  holiday.

We  decide  to  use   Petit Taxi   to  our  next   Hotel Toulousain  . .
"Aziza"  is  waiting  . .  saying   "I  have  special  room  for  you".
We  have  ensuite  bathroom  with  western  toilet  and  shower,   TP(!),
desk  with  good  lighting,    fan,    closet  with  hangers!,    lounge  chair,    court yard,
breakfast  included  in  2nd  courtyard  . .  and  wi - fi.
Our   "close - to - the - ground"   travels  often  omit  many  of  those  things.
We  don't  even  have  stairs  to  climb.

We  will  enjoy  getting  acquainted  with  Marrakesh  at  a  less  hectic  pace
. .  because  all  transportation  out  of  town  is  booked  until  . .   Tuesday.

We  are  impressed  with  our  location  in  Gueliz  neighborhood  . .
with  palm  lined  boulevards,    lots  of  eateries  . .

Next  blog  we'll  show  our  early  introduction  to  Marrakesh
and  some  tidbits  about  their  feast  and  festival.
This  is  a   "national"   and   "religious"  holiday  . .   not  just  a  Marrekesh  event.

Until  then   . .   Rusty  and  Wrinkles
