Moulay Idriss I and II . . decided Volubilis . . was too small
so chose Fez as the new . . Imperial Capital.
' Imperial ' seems to always include
grand . wide . dramatic . park - like . tree - lined
Boulevard(s) and Fountain(s)

BAB ( Entry GATE ) into the kingdom

It's at least 10 - 15 degrees cooler in this north central area
with higher Humidity than the inland desert of the south.
Weather here is ideal for growing most of what the population depends on for food
. . including VINEYARDS plump with grapes . . between Fez and Meknes
reaping enough to fill the shelves with plenty of 'Reds' and 'Whites' . .

We leave Fez by train . . head north . . to Tangier
( 1st class . . a couple dollars more than 2nd, guarantees a seat
and leaves more room for those in 2nd class )
About a half hour before arriving in Tangier . .
we find our rail - riding selves right along the . . Atlantic Ocean
Tangier is a story all it's own . . We've covered a lot of territory . a lot of history
Before long we'll be . . changing Continents . . .
So far it's been an adventuresome intense three weeks.
We have felt safe at all times.
