Then . . TREES . . Forests . . We re trying to slow down . . ( always a challenge )
enough to appreciate each local setting -
. . Close to the Coast we are surprised by the 'vast differences' in scenery . .
Our 'Africaner' ( Dutch heritage ) Hostess . . in Hermanus . . is so jolly
. . Says "Zoete Inval" means something like "Thanks for stopping by . . . "
( Like 'SIGI' in Windhoek, Namibia ) . . at the time of this lady's marriage
. . she moved into the home . . where her groom grew up.
They've been here ever since . . and over the years
. . have contributed many additions to the property
. . multiplying the family income . . via Room Rentals ).
Personally . . as people who have moved around a lot
. . we sense her "grounded - ness" . . and her "contentment".
After ordering "Fresh Fruit Fiesta" platter to share for breakfast
. . we notice a man way up high lowering a basket on a rope
. . it turns out to be the lady's husband . .
sending Fruit down so she can make the salad.
. . They have "little sayings " all over their property . .
Notice the "Message" on the Tire . . . "The root /"route" determines the / "our" fruit"
. . She comes around the corner . . chuckling
. . wanting us to notice where and how our groceries are getting to us !

On this particular morning . . All Guests . . except US . . are French.
This gal, Sophie, is traveling by herself . . We're headed in opposite directions

Hermanus . . caters to Tourists coming to see . . 'WHALES'
. . primarily in the Spring months ( September - November )
All months . . bring visitors who expect to enjoy highlights along this Garden Route.
There are many Signs asking the public . . NOT to feed the BABOONS
. . because they are dangerous. We didn't see any.
They must thrive in this climate and the rocky terrain . . as much as we do !
