We  first  peek  into  historic   Victoria  Falls  Hotel   where  many  Elite  have stayed

While  we're  here  . .  we  wonder  if  there  is  anything  on  the  Menu  that  . .  fits  our  budget.

( And  the  process  will  reverse  when  we  return  same  day   TO   Zambia )

The  2  countries  have  simplified  VISAs  now . .  offering  a   multiple  entry  'Combo'  pass

(We  should  have  kept  track  of  the  . .  Total  Number  of  Times  . .  on  this  one  trip

we've  had  to  . .  'Prove  our  Identity' )

David  Livingstone   made  these  Falls  famous  . . 

He  first  viewed  them  from  his  Canoe  . .  thinking  there  was  a  huge  FIRE   in  the  distance  

Locals   took   him   ( via  River )   to  prove  it  was  WATER   instead  . .   he  was  amazed

We  see  the  'Beginning'  on  one  side / End  . .  Water  flows  here  year  'round  . . 

We  already  feel  some  swirling  Mist

The  first  Drop - Off  . .  and  an  early  hint  of  'Rainbow'  . .

Going  through  here  in  lowest  water  time  of  year  . .  is  an  entirely  different  experience

Devil's  Cataract . .  is  one  section  visible  from  . .  BOTH   ( Zim  and   Zam )   Sides

Each   Viewing   Area   is  getting   MORE   Misty    . .   and  the  ground   MORE   Wet   . .

By  now  we're  using  Umbrellas  . .  and   have  to  keep  Cameras  dry   between  quick  shots

. .  Only  see  Mist  here !     March  and  April   into  May  . .   are   Highest  Water  times

. .    Late   February   is   close  enough    . .

We  decide  we  don't  need  to  have  MORE  water  coming  over  the  Falls  . .  This  is   "convincing".

. .  We  join  it  leaving  Oudtshoorn  . .  in  the  Little  Karoo  . .  heading  West

If  we  had  more  time  . .   this  little  town  would  be  a  good  place  to  stay  at  least  one  night 

. .  This  Scene  dominates  all  Calitzdorp  brochures

PORT  Wines  . .  are  the  Specialty  here  . .  Lunch  Menu  is  available  . . 

Visitors  are  invited  to  Walk  into  the  Rows  . .  Eat  sweet  Grapes  . .  right  off  the  Vine !

 

De  KRANS  Winery   ( above  . .  Port  Wines )  is  a  smaller  Winery  . .  

with  a  Tasting  Room  decorated  with  numerous  Awards  . .  ( won  year  after  year )  . .

SWARTBERG   PASS  . .  leads  further  into  the  . .  greater   Cape  Town   region 

. .   and  many  more  Wineries.      Western  Cape   Roads   have  ALL  been  . .  good

The Western Cape  . .   has  managed  to  avoid  . .   Toll Roads.

However  this  very  long  . .   HUEGUENOT   TUNNEL  . .  required  additional funding

. .   close   to   2.5   Miles   long   . .
