MSp 24 - Casablanca & home

This    Casa Voyageurs  Train Station    looks  very  familiar.
We   arrived   here   in  Casablanca  six  weeks  ago  . .
We   departed   from  here   to  go  to  Marrakesh  . .
We   return  here  via  Rabat   ( current  Capital  and  4th  Imperial  City )
. .   ( after  two weeks  in southern  Spain )  . .
Tomorrow   from  here   to   Casa's  airport  . .   we  head  home

We  spend  a chunk  of  this  last  day  taking  the  tram's  one  line
out  to  Casa's  coastal  suburbs
Ain  Diab   -     Anfa
Many  young  people  crowd  onto  the  cars  planning  to spend  the evening  near  the water

Temperature  has  dropped   considerably   since  we  arrived  late  September
. .   a  reminder  that  we're  north  of  the  Equator  and
Winter  is  on  its'  way

Horse - riding  is  popular  on  the  sand  as  are  some  net  games  and  a  few  balls.
But  it's  generally  a  meeting  place  to   ..   hang  out    and   ..   visit  ("be  with")
..   before  dark  and  ..   before  dinner

We  decide  to  get  a  bite  to  eat
while   watching  the  sun   set   behind   stormy  clouds.
Like  Rabat,    Casa  had  rain  yesterday  . .
and  it  looks  like  there's  more  to  come

Unlike  the  others,   we  take  an  early  tram  back  into  town
..    hoping  to  get  some  sleep
since  we  have  an  extra  early  plane  Departure  tomorrow  morning

At   2:30  a.m.  we  still  toss  and  turn,
so  decide  to  close  up  our  two  roller  bags  and  head  toward  the  station.
Our  building  is  being  remodeled   ..
Someone  has  evidently  been  appointed  to  help  us  find  our  way  out
since  lighting  will  be  minimal.     We  appreciate  the  thoughtful  gesture.
We  walk  by  moonlight  about  10  minutes  to  the  station.
The  streets  are  empty

About   3 a.m.   we're  inside.
A  few  bodies  are  curled  up  sleeping  on  the  floor  or  in  chairs.
No  one  is  on  duty  . .  good  thing  we  got  our  tickets  yesterday.
The  counters  are  vacant  and  quiet

Many  Clocks     ..   each  one  states  a  different  time

Is  it   3:40   like  above  . .   or   10:10   . .   or    1:50 ?         One  says  7:30

Since  our  flight  leaves  at   7 a.m.
the   6:07   train  won't  get  us  to  the  airport  in  time   . .
( we  noticed  that  yesterday )
We'll  have  to  catch  the   first   train   of  the  day   . .    4:40

Nearer  that  time  the  Security  man  or  ticket  taker
will  likely  be  awake  and  ready  for  work   . .

The  platform  clock  seems  to  know  what's  going  on   . .
We  have  many  hours  of   SIT   ahead  of  us  today  . .
Pacing   this  plank  seems  like  a  good  idea.

We  aren't  the  only  ones  needing  a  few  horizontal  'winks'   . .

Again   . .   through  . .   Security  Clearance
( We  should  have  kept  track  of the  total  number  of  times  we've  done  this )
. .   A  necessary  nuisance

Our  Return  Flight  home  includes   Plane  Changes   in  Paris,   then  over  the  Atlantic
to  Atlanta  to  re - check  our  bags   ..   before  re - boarding  to  head  west.

On  the  French  Tarmac  ready  to  lift - off  . .   an  emergency
in  the  back  of  the  plane
brings  everything  to  a  halt.        We  need  to  be  re - gated.
The  aisles  get  busy  with  .  Firemen   .   Police   .   Stretcher   .   Oxygen Mask
Silent  passengers  are  relieved  only  that  it  does  not  seem  to  be   ..   terrorism.
And  we're  whispering   "Better  now  ..   than  mid - flight !"
An  older  woman  is  deemed  unable  to  fly.
Her  2  friends  decide  to  get  off  with  her.
Cargo  has  to  be   un - loaded   to  find  their  luggage.
About  2  Hours  later   ..   we're  ready  for  Departure

Most  transfer  passengers  have  now  missed  their  connecting  flight  upon  arrival  in  Atlanta.
Delta  took  the  hit  ..  handing  out  Vouchers  for   Dinner .   Hotel  .  Breakfast  ( &  transportation ).

We  were  able  to  help  young  twin  males from  Granada    ( minimal  English )
jump  through  the  hoops  with  assurances  no  monies  were  due  ..
They  would  have  free  shuttle  transport  to - from  ..
in  order  to  catch  tomorrow's  plane  on  to  their   Mexico  City   destination.

Home  safely  late  November  8.
Within  7  weeks  we'll  celebrate  Thanksgiving  and  Christmas  ..
while  we   simultaneously  UN - pack   and   then  RE - pack  ..
preparing   to  fly   British  Air   to   South  Africa   ..
starting  year   2015  ..   in  Johannesburg  on   ..   New  Year's  Day

Rusty  and  Wrinkles  will  continue  Travel - Posting   early  January.
Until  then,   make  these  days  meaningful.
R and Wr
