GDL03 - Munich: Dachau . BMW . Eagle's Nest

The faster we go . . the behinder we get !

From Munich we day-tripped to:

Dachau Concentration Camp
Of hundreds of camps . . Dachau  (first along with Sachenhausen north of Berlin)
is   the only camp that operated all 12 years
of the Nazi (Democratic Socialist) Regimes  1933 -1945

We were here in 1985.  They've made a number of changes . .
Information has increased considerably
Tour Guides have become increasingly knowlegable
The Layout is vast . . but comprehendible
Information displays have multiplied.
Our guide emphasized over and over that  . .  Germans  . .
DID  KNOW  . .  WHAT  WAS  GOING  ON
(It was  NOT  a "secret")

Notice beyond the trees on both sides
the foundations of former barracks to house captured enemies of Nazism

The "captured" built everything (as "ordered")
Beginning in 1933 . . each year space became much more crowded
with multiple men sharing tighter and tighter quarters
less and less fresh air and food
more and more disease . .
and death (here at this camp)
from exhaustion, starvation, and punishment
( "Auschwitz - Birkenau" was the premiere execution location )

Rooms to kill  . .  funguses, lice, you-name-it  (on prisoners)

What to do with increasing numbers of dead bodies ??
Cremation is  . .  "expedient"

Many groups have constructed Memorials

Survivors themselves are credited with creating this  . .  IRON Memorial

And we  . .  day-tripped . . to Salzburg
where we could use the handy Bayern Ticket to get up to Berchtesgaden
where  Hitler's   EAGLE'S  NEST  is located
This spot was given to him as a 'gift'
He didn't like being up there but his girlfriend Eva Braun did.
The weather this day was absolutely cloudless!
And with that perfectly clear sky . .
as it turned out . . the last link by bus . . was cancelled
and . . we did  not  get to be up there after all !!

This is the view we thought we had the perfect day to see . .
THE  "perch"  upon which  "EAGLE'S  NEST"  sits

(there's  so much  to be told about this site . .  here . .  is just an 'appetizer')

_____
___

Also spent some time in the  . .  BMW  Showroom
Bavarian Motor Works   . .  (Bayerische Motoren Werke)
(The Museum is on the top floor)

Rolls Royce

We've seen one of these 3 - wheelers in our development.
No longer manufactured.
Originals sell for about 30,000
Rebuilt one costs about 10,000
 Seats 2 people

OPTIONS  available

Questions?    (or)   Deal-Making?

Just a quick sample of a few of our involvements

We're not twiddling our thumbs

There's more to come . . stay tuned
